Celine Whitlinger had 21 saves as Penn State squared its College Hockey America record with a 3-0 triumph against Lindenwood at Pegula Ice Arena on Friday.
After a scoreless first period, the Nittany Lions (7-5-2 overall, 2-2-1 CHA) broke through. Laura Bowman ended the drought, scoring off assists from Caitlin Reilly and Amy Petersen at the 10:37 mark.
The contest stayed that way until Penn State took control on two power-player goals in 38 seconds midway through the third period. Hannah Bramm scored her first goal of the season at the 8:48 mark off another assist from Reilly. With her fifth goal of the season, Shannon Yoxheimer capped the scoring on assists from Bella Sutton and Bowman.
Bowman has seven goals and nine assists on the season. Petersen also has nine assists.
The Nittany Lions outshot Lindenwood 31-21. Nicole Hensley had 28 saves for Lindenwood (3-7-1, 2-2-1). Whitlinger improved to 4-4.
The two teams meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pegula Ice Arena.
