The Penn State women’s hockey team earned the biggest win in program history Friday night, upsetting No. 6 Mercyhurst 2-1 at Pegula Ice Arena.
The Nittany Lions (9-7-3, 4-4-1 CHA) earned their first victory over a ranked opponent in two-plus years for the program.
Second-period goals from Amy Petersen and Bella Sutton just over a minute apart accounted for the Penn State scoring, with Sutton’s score on a power play. Laura Bowman picked up an assist on Petersen’s tally.

The teams meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pegula Ice Arena to close the first semester for the Nittany Lions.
