A fluke goal made the difference as No. 7 Penn State remained unbeaten in the Big Ten with 1-0 triumph over Minnesota on Friday night.
In a game in which snow flurries fell, the Nittany Lions (11-1 overall, 6-0 benefited from an error by Minnesota (6-6, 3-3). A Gopher defender’s pass was too far from goalie Tarah Hobbs and went into the net at the 22:44 mark of the first half.
The Nittany Lion defense made the margin stand. Keeper Britt Eckerstrom did not have to make a save the entire contest. Penn State outshot Minnesota 13-5.
Penn State plays at No. 13 Wisconsin on Sunday.
