Penn State senior Whitney Church earned first-team All-American honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Friday.
Church was the leader of the Nittany Lion defense, which allowed more than one goal twice and recorded nine shutouts. She finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in minutes played with 8,243.
She was named the Big Ten Defender of the Year, and she is a MAC Hermann Trophy Award semifinalist.
Church is the 12th Penn State player to be selected to the NSCAA All-America first team.
