Penn State put up a big block to earn a big road win Saturday night, sweeping Minnesota 25-20, 25-17, 25-23.
The No. 2 Nittany Lions (24-2, 15-1 Big Ten) won their 15th straight match and maintained their one-game conference lead over No. 9 Nebraska, which beat Michigan 3-1 Saturday.
Ariel Scott’s 14 kills, Deja McClendon’s 11 kills, Megan Courtney’s nine kills and nine digs and Katie Slay’s seven kills and eight blocks led the way. Micha Hancock notched 41 assists and Dominique Gonzalez also had nine digs.
Ashley Wittman’s 13 kills and Tori Dixon’s 10 kills led the No. 11 Golden Gophers (23-6, 11-5), who were held to a .207 hitting night and outblocked 10-6. Penn State hit .304 with a 50-39 advantage in kills.
The Nittany Lions host their final matches of the regular season next weekend, with Northwestern visiting Friday and No. 25 Illinois in Rec Hall on Saturday.
