Penn State’s future defensive line got significantly bigger this weekend, as the Nittany Lions received commitments from a pair of 300- pound prospects.
DaQuan Jones, a 6-foot-4, 300-pounder from Johnson City High School in Johnson City, N.Y., committed to Penn State on Saturday, a day after the Nittany Lions received an oral commitment from Evan Hailes, a 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va.
Hailes, a four-star recruit according to Scout.com and Rivals.com, chose Penn State over Virginia Tech, LSU and North Carolina State. He made 81 tackles, including 11 sacks, as a junior this past fall as Oscar Smith went 15-0 and won its first state championship.
Jones, also a four-star recruit according to both sites, held offers from Boston College, N.C. State, Maryland and Pitt, among others.
Penn State now has commitments from 10 prospects, including three defensive linemen, in the Class of 2010.
