The first round sites have been set for the PIAA baseball and softball tournaments, and Centre County’s three surviving teams do not have to travel far before hitting the diamonds Monday.
The Bellefonte and Philipsburg-Osceola softball teams will be playing at Penn State’s Nittany Lion Softball Park, while the State College baseball team will play at Bald Eagle Area High School.
All three programs are District 6 champions, with Bellefonte and P-O capturing their titles on Penn State’s field while State College won a PIAA subregional against McDowell on Wednesday at BEA.
The Lady Red Raiders will be on the field first, meeting Yough at noon in Class 4A. Yough is the runner-up from District 7.
At 7:30 p.m., in the fourth game of the day at Penn State, the Lady Mounties will face District 3 runner-up Pequea Valley in a Class 3A contest.
The Little Lions will meet North Allegheny, the second-place team from District 7, at 4 p.m. in Class 6A.
The winners advance to quarterfinal games Thursday.
