St. Joseph’s showed signs of life early on Friday night — but it just couldn’t maintain the momentum.
After driving the ball on their first possession and scoring on their second, the Wolves struggled afterward en route to a 40-7 loss to Halifax on the road.
“We played a pretty tough game tonight,” SJCA coach Murray Fetzer said.
The Wildcats scored on their first two possessions to make it a 14-7 game, and it didn’t get any easier for St. Joseph’s. Shortly thereafter, the Wolves fumbled the ball five yards from the opponent end zone. St. Joseph’s again reached the red zone at the start of the second half but couldn’t punch it in.
Zac Sechler paced the Wolves’ offensive attack with 15 carries for 75 yards.
Halifax led at halftime 33-7.
The Wolves are now 0-5 on the season, while Halifax improves to 3-4. St. Joseph’s will next take on Col-Mon Vo-Tech — which is 1-5 this season — next Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.
