Top-seeded Philipsburg-Osceola swept No. 8 Central 3-0 for a second time in a week, cruising to a 25-15, 25-11 and 25-14 triumph in the District 6 Class AA quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Setter Mackenzie Burge led the Lady Mounties with 23 assists, while Kylie Scovern recorded eight. kills and five aces. Elizabeth Robertson added five digs for the Lady Mounties, who will host fifth-seeded Richland, which knocked off No. 4 Westmont Hilltop, tonight in the semifinals. "This is a team we played a week ago, so we were already familar with how they played," said Philipsburg-Osceola coach Dave Eckberg of Wednesday's win. "This was a great start for us. I hope we can keep the momentum going against a good Richland team."

Penns Valley tumbles
CRESSON — Seventh-seeded Penns Valley had its season end with a 25-14, 25-9, 25-9 loss to No. 2 Penn Cambria on Wednesday.
Madison Bressler recorded four kills and two blocks, while Tangie Lyons notched six assists and Ashley Struble had six digs.
The Lady Rams finished the season with an 8-8 record.
