HERNDON — Karli Ripka nailed a 3-pointer, went 7-for-8 at the foul line and finished with 14 points as Penns Valley defeated Selinsgrove 49-32 in the Line Mountain Tip-Off Tournament.
“We were really on with the foul shots tonight,” Lady Rams coach Andrea Borland said.
Kelsey Boone pulled off a double-double with 14 boards and 16 points in the win. Cheyenne Swartz added three steals, three assists and six points for Penns Valley.
“They played well as a team, we had a great showing on defense,” said Borland.
Penns Valley plays Line Mountain in tonight’s championship game at 7:30 p.m.
Ward leads BEA in opener
BEA played shut-down defense. The Lady Eagles held West Branch to single-digit scoring totals in all but the fourth quarter. Lexi Josefik and Kaitlyn Miller both added nine points.
Miller added 10 rebounds.
Williamsburg pulls away from Penns Valley
The Rams trailed by one point at halftime before the Blue Pirates pulled away.
Despite the loss, Logan Johnson and Cameron Tobais each finished with seven points for the Rams. John Ott and Tobais both drained 3-pointers.
Penns Valley (0-1) meets Juniata at 6 p.m. tonight.
Tanner Light led the Red Raiders with 14 points. Evan Wian went 5-for-6 at the foul line and finished with nine points.
Alex Kaltenbach was also impressive from the free throw line, going 3-for-3 and finishing with nine points. Andy Stover added seven points.
Clarion hammers P-O
Clarion outscored P-O 43-23 in the first half. Roland Shannonhouse led Clarion with 25 points.
Penns Valley, Huntingdon can’t catch Bellefonte
Colton Schnars took home two first-place spots, winning both the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke and was part of the first-place 200 relay team along with Andrew Rosenberger, Isaac Thomas and Frank Ebring.
Ebring, Rosenberger and Thomas also placed first in the 200 freestyle relay along with teammate Matt Horner.
Patrick Scordato also notched two wins for Bellefonte in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.
Bellefonte (1-0) visits Tyrone at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Lady Red Raiders
Cydnie Crust, Katie Scordato, Gwen Lowey and Emily Kerstetter took first place in the 200 relay while Crust also placed first in the 200 free and 400 free, Scordato placed first in the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke.
Deb Armstrong placed first in the 100 free and 200 free relay along with Kerstetter, Scordato and Miranda Fedor.
The Lady Red Raiders (1-0) visit Tyrone on Thursday.
