The State College boys’ basketball team held a double-digit lead in the courth quarter, then held off a furious comeback attempt by Chambersburg for a 63-60 victory at the North Gym on Wednesday night.
The Little Lions (5-1) have won four straight Mid-Penn League games after seeing Kellen Williams’ long 3-pointer at the final buzzer bounce off the rim.
“We knew they were going to come at us and we were slow to respond,” said State College coach Drew Frank, whose team also saw a double digit lead against Carlisle on Monday nearly evaporate. “I said to the guys, Chambersburg is a solid team. They didn’t hand us that win. We had to work hard for it.’”
Kyle Kanaskie’s 19 points and Jason Costa’s 17 points led the Little Lions, who are back on the court at Mifflin County on Friday before taking a holiday break. Michael Beattie and Bryan Sekunda each added eight points.
Williams finished with 22 points, Kyle Myers added 14 Tay Charles 11 and Mitch Stahl 10 for the Trojans (3-3).
