The skinny: Despite the graduation loss of several district champions and PIAA competitors, the Little Lions still have plenty of talent and depth. … Biggest change is the program’s move to the Mid-Penn Conference for more dual meets on the schedule this spring. … Among the PIAA competitors returning are half the team’s 4x800 relay team that finished seventh at states in Will Cather and Kyle Adams, and middle distances should be a strength again. … Other key athletes in the middle- and long-distance events include Chris Golembeski, Matt Beyerle, Sam Bollinger, Alex Milligan, Kyle Sutherland and Eric Heatwole. … Top sprinters include Greg Kellar, Kyle Margusity, Marco Schoch, Mason Post, Ebrahim Britton, Tristan Daman and Seamus Wagner. … Taking over in the hurdles are Jon Smith, Alex Banerjee and Tyler Smith. … Top jumpers include Bryce Williams, Sean King, Kellin Valentine and Dan Forziat. … The throws are likely to be led by Matt Mullin, Sean O’Melia, Sam Murphy and Mitchell Strawser. … Top pole-vaulters include Latham Thompson, Griffin Thompson and Mark Henry. … Coach McCrea says the team has some talent in the freshman class that just needs a little polish and maturity to compete with the older athletes.
Coach McCrea says: “I believe in judging athletes by the effort they are putting in every day. I love seeing kids work hard all week and then see that pay off at the meets. … Our team theme this year is ‘Stay Hungry.’ The idea of this is to allow past successes to drive future accomplishments.”
