Penns Valley fell behind early and could not get even as the Rams lost a 34-28 shootout to Huntingdon on Friday.
Taylor Collison rushed for three touchdowns but the Rams (1-4) could not stop Huntingdon’s Devon Claar. The Bearcats’ running back rushed for 151 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns and caught a 47-yard touchdown pass.
Claar put Huntingdon (2-3) ahead for good in the first quarter. He hauled in the 47-yarder from Hudson Speck just 1:53 into the contest and ran eight yards for another score to give the Bearcats a 14-0 lead after the quarter.
Collison got the Rams on the board a minute into the fourth quarter with a five-yard run, but the extra point was missed to make the score 14-6.

Speck found Rhett Stetchock for a 10-yard scoring strike just 20 seconds later to make it 21-6. Collison took a pitchout from Cameron Tobias and raced seven yards around the right side and his conversion run brought the Rams within a touchdown at 21-14 with 6:50 left in the half.
Claar pushed the lead back to 14 points just 16 seconds later. He rumbled 65 yards down the right sideline as Huntingdon led 28-14 at the half.
Tobias fired a 13-yard scoring strike to Luke Weaver midway through the third quarter and Andrew Deardorff’s extra point made it 28-21.
But once again Claar delivered for the Bearcats, rushing 17 yards for a score. The Rams blocked the extra point, which could have loomed big.
Collison’s final touchdown run, a five-yarder cut the lead to 34-28 with a little more than a minute left in the third quarter, but neither team could break through in the fourth.
Collison rushed for 108 yards on 15 carries, while Wyatt Sharp added 76 yards on 10 carries.
Tobias had a big night, completing 19 of 27 passes for 238 yards and a score. His favorite target was Weaver, who had eight catches for 100 yards. Collison had four grabs for 48 yards.
Speck completed just two passes, but both went for touchdowns. Stetchock added 52 yards on nine carries.
Penns Valley plays host to Philipsburg-Osceola on Friday at 7 p.m
