West Branch raced to a 16-point lead after one quarter and cruised to a 73-40 win over Philipsburg-Osceola on Monday.
The Warriors extended the margin to 39-16 at the half, taking advantage of the Mounties’ turnovers.
“They pressed us and we didn’t respond real well,” P-O coach Dave McKnight said. “We had a lot of first-game jitters. We turned the ball over 25 times in the first half.”
Code Trude, who nailed five 3-pointers, led West Branch with 26 points. Mike Pennington added 20.
Lewis Jones paced the Mounties with 17 points, while Trentin Herrington netted 10. Curtis Matsko grabbed 10 rebounds.
