State College started and finished strong to open its season as it raced away from Central Dauphin 66-46 Tuesday night.
Kyla Irwin led the way with 19 points, hitting a half-court shot at the buzzer to end the first quarter with a 19-10 lead. With the margin still at nine points heading into the final eight minutes, the Lady Little Lions pulled away for the 20-point final margin.
“This was a big game for us,” coach Bethany Irwin said. “With no practice Friday or Saturday we still had a lot of stuff we needed to fix, but that was a great start on the road to open with in a Mid Penn game.”
Bridget King added a dozen points, while Carrie Mahon and Ali Treglia each added eight points.
Shatara Parsons’ 17 points and Jayneifa Davis’ 14 points led the Rams (2-1).
