With the Mountain League’s top two boys’ soccer teams battling well into the night, 80 minutes wasn’t enough to decide a winner — or even bring a goal.
It took an extra 7 minutes, 27 seconds into overtime before Seth Koleno snuck in the game-winner to give Bald Eagle Area a 1-0 victory against Bellefonte at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday.
“It was a fun game to be a part of,” said BEA coach Jason Bair, whose team handed the Red Raiders (7-1-1) their first loss.
Chris Dunklebarger found the freshman for the game-winner, sending a high, floating shot just over the fingertips of keeper Matt Feldman and barely under the crossbar.
“When you saw it you thought, ‘Oh, it’s got a chance,’” Bair said. “And then you saw it in the back of the net and everyone went crazy.”
Alex Boyer made four saves for the shutout, while Feldman also stopped four shots.
The Eagles (7-3) will play their third game in three days Wednesday at Penns Valley.
