Philipsburg-Osceola rode goals from senior defender Skyler Krise and junior midfielder Anthony Cassler to a 2-0 shutout of Penns Valley on Thursday.
The Krise goal was bundled in off Zach Ament’s corner kick at 35:16, and Cassler scored on a throw-in from sophomore Christian Snyder at 67:27.
The game was played largely between the boxes with the difference being the range from which the shots were taken.
“Our shots, while ugly, were from inside the six (-yard box),” Mounties coach Shawn Inlow said. “The Rams’ two best efforts were nice shots that were laced up from outside the penalty area that our keeper handled well.”
Tiger Welch stopped three shots for the Rams (3-9-2).
Mitch Winters made two saves for his fifth shutout of the season, accounting for all the wins for P-O (5-5-1), which has a showdown at Bellefonte on Tuesday.
