With four runners in the top six, the State College boys’ cross country team completed an undefeated dual-meet season and triumphed in a precursor to the District 6 Championships.
The Little Lions (7-0) edged Altoona 26-31 at Logan Elementary School on Monday.
Alex Milligan led the way with his time of 16 minutes, 39 seconds around the 5-kilometer course, while Matt Beyerle was fourth (17:04), Nick Feffer took fifth (17:09) and Eric Heatwole was sixth (17:24). Phil Clauer’s ninth-place finish (17:40) completed the scoring.
“The guys went out and ran smart,” Little Lions coach Dave Felice said. “They did what they needed to do to win. When we run against them again at districts, it will be a pretty tight meet.”
Brad Foust won the race in 16:26 for the Mountain Lions, who were missing a pair of key runners Monday.
