Bald Eagle Area saw its lead disappear in the final 10 minutes of the game in a 2-1 loss to Clearfield on Thursday.
Brandon Gettig had staked the Eagles (9-5) to the lead 9:42 into the contest, with help from Nathan Styles, and as Alex Boyer made eight saves on the night the margin stood until the closing minutes.
Jack Soult spoiled the shutout with 7:44 left, and Spencer Herrington ripped in the winner from about 35 yards away with 1:52 left.
“It was a high floater, a high, hard kick, and it went over my keep’s hands and into the goal,” BEA coach Jason Bair said. “We had plenty of opportuities and we couldn’t cash them in.”
