Jason Jones scored a career-high 31 points to help Bald Eagle Area hold off Huntingdon 88-80 in boys’ basketball Friday night.
Jones scored 11 points and Brandon Gettig added nine as the Eagles (3-2) raced out to a 33-20 lead in the first quarter. Huntingdon trimmed BEA’s lead to 72-71 late in the fourth quarter before Jones scored off a steal and hit a 3-pointer to ensure the Eagles held on for their third straight win.
“It was a fun game to watch,” BEA coach Bill Butterworth said. “It was not a fun game to coach — nerve-wracking.”
Gettig finished with 23 points and Trey Butterworth scored 18 points. Noah Chambers added 10.
BEA went 20 for 28 from the foul line.
Nate Gearhart paced Huntingdon with 29 points and hit six 3-pointers. Kobren Frederick had 22.
The Eagles and Bearcats combined for 18 3-pointers in the high-scoring affair.
