Penns Valley got better with each quarter and hammered Clearfield 47-25 on Wednesday.
The Rams (9-7) improved to 8-1 in league play with a strong offensive effort matched by steady defense. Penns Valley was able to insert younger players for the final quarter after building a 44-23 lead after three quarters.
Offensively the Rams were led by Mackenzie Ironside who put up 18 points with 12 of those coming from 3-point range.
“Mackenzie Ironside had the hot hand for us tonight,” Penns Valley coach Karen McCaffrey said. “She’s capable of putting up 18 every night.”
Maci Ilgen chipped in 10 points while point guard Karli Ripka added seven and helped slow Clearfield’s offense with a strong defensive performance. Bethany Miller snagged 11 rebounds in the win.
