Philipsburg’s Megan Bainey is a Centre Daily Times Athlete of the Week.
Bainey helped her team make it to the finals of the United States Specialty Sports Association Class B World Series in Kissimmee, Fla and also earned Offensive Player of the World Series.
In the finals, Bainey and the Razorbacks needed to beat Kill’n Time (Alabama) twice for the crown. In the first game, Bainey hit the game-winning single driving in two runs in 10th inning of a 5-4 victory. However, the Razorbacks were eliminated with a 7-4 setback that Bainey hit a two-run home run.
In the semifinals against the Germantown Titans, Bainey tied the game up at 2-2 with another two-run shot. In all, Bainey finished 11 for 28 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
