State College football player Nathan King is a Centre Daily Times Athlete of the Week.
King, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound linebacker, was a key part of the Little Lion defense that shut down DuBois in a 29-7 triumph in the District 6/9 Class AAAA Championship game on Friday in Hollidaysburg.
King returned a fumble 79 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter that extended State College’s lead to 15-0. He and Carter Hardy were also on another DuBois’ fumble.
The Little Lions forced five turnovers against the Beavers, who had been averaging nearly 50 points per game entering the contest.
State College (5-6) faces District 8/10 champion Erie McDowell (7-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the PIAA Class AAAA tournament.
