The Los Angeles Kings begin a five-game road trip tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

Los Angeles heads east after Saturday's 3-1 home loss to Nashville. It marked the first time in nine games that the Kings failed to record a point, as they had been 6-0-2 in their previous eight games.

Dustin Brown provided the lone score for the Kings and Jonathan Quick surrendered all three goals on 25 shots in defeat.

"We didn't have a lot of energy and we didn't make a lot of plays," Brown said. "It's really just taking accountability individually and preparing yourself to play. That's something that everyone kind of has to look at themselves in the mirror tonight to realize and learn from."

Anze Kopitar did pick up an assist to lift his NHL-leading point total to 27. Kopitar is also second in the league with 13 goals and has notched a point in 14 of Los Angeles' 17 games this year.

Kopitar has three goals and four assists in 10 career games against the Blackhawks, while Quick is 1-3-0 with a 2.93 goals-against average versus them.

The Kings are 5-3-1 on the road this year and have notched a point in each of their last four contests as the guest (3-0-1). However, they lost both meetings with the Blackhawks in Chicago last year, getting outscored 8-3.

Los Angeles did win its two home contests versus Chicago in 2008-09, but has lost seven of its last 12 overall versus the Blackhawks.

Chicago kicks off a four-game homestand tonight and is 6-2-1 at United Center, having won its last three contests there. The Blackhawks did lose a 4-3 shootout decision in Colorado on Friday, a contest that went eight rounds before Chris Stewart finally beat Antti Niemi to secure the win for the Avs.

Dustin Byfuglien and Duncan Keith had first-period goals to give the Blackhawks an early lead, with both tallies coming off assists by Patrick Kane and Kris Versteeg, and Andrew Ladd also scored. Niemi finished with 19 saves.

"We got the start we wanted tonight, then we got complacent," forward Troy Brouwer said.

The Blackhawks were without captain Jonathan Toews for a sixth straight game due to concussion-like symptoms, though he has returned to practice and remains day-to-day. Dave Bolland also missed Friday's game with a nagging back issue and is questionable for this contest.

Cristobal Huet is likely to start tonight for Chicago and he has never beaten the Kings, losing both of his career starts while posting a 4.03 GAA.
