BELLEFONTE — On a night of many firsts for the Lock Haven University wrestling team, including being the host of the first Division I wrestling match held at a Centre County high school, Rider proved to be very uncooperative visitors.

State College and McDowell compile impressive scoring totals without potent passing attacks. The Little Lions average 35.2 points and 351.1 yards per game despite attempting 10.5 passes per game. The Trojans have completed just 13 passes in 10 games, yet average 37.8 points and 381.3 yards per game. ...State College coach Al Wolski said McDowell’s triple-option attack resembles the offense used by Georgia Tech and Navy. Six Trojans have rushed for at least 200 yards this season, led by quarterback Zach Greenawalt’s 792 yards on 88 carries. Dejon Young has added 616 yards on 81 carries while Greg Gamon has 550 yards on 40 carries. The Trojans average 7.9 yards per carry. ...State College compiled just 88 offensive yards in last year’s game, but Alex Kenney missed the game because of a knee injury. Kenney, who has 939 yards on 106 carries, is healthy this season and leads State College with 22 touchdowns. His three touchdowns last week against Central Mountain increased his career total to 52. ...The Little Lions will again be without senior running back Bryan Schmidt, who injured his collarbone against Central Dauphin East. Schmidt’s injury has increased junior Jamal Albro’s workload. Albro has received 32 carries in the past four games, compiling a career-high 99 yards on 11 carries last week against Central Mountain. ...Quarterback Matt Mazzara is second on the team with 773 yards on 92 carries. Mazzara has compiled two straight 100-yard rushing games. ...State College is 6-3 all-time against McDowell. The teams have combined for just 66 points in their past games. The stretch includes a 3-0 McDowell victory in 2003.
