Bellefonte pitcher Adam Armstrong stood tall on the mound Wednesday in his team’s 1-0 win over Clarence in the Central Penn League of the American Legion.
Armstrong struck out nine while surrendering just four hits and three walks. The losing pitcher, Ethan Corman, put up an identical stat line — four hits allowed, three walks allowed, nine strikeouts — but allowed one run in the first inning. That was all the difference.
In the top of the first frame, Bellefonte’s Cade Fortney led off with a double. One out later, C.J. Funk doubled to drive Fortney home. That proved to be the only scoring of the game.
With the win, Bellefonte improves to 7-3 while Clarence drops to 1-9.
