Carrying around a pump on your bike frame might seem like overkill – until you need one. Maybe that's why so many on the market are cheap plastic models that emphasize low-weight instead of functionality. Yes, no one wants extra weight on the bike, but when you're struggling to inflate a tire far from home, those few extra grams don't seem like such a big deal. Tattico's new Bluetooth Mini-Pump manages to keep the weight relatively low while using metal parts and a great design to create a very functional hand pump.
It's certainly not as fast as a floor pump, but it will still get you back on your bike surprisingly quickly when you get a flat on the road. What makes this pump special, however, is that you can actually measure the air pressure in your tires through an app on your phone – a Bluetooth transducer in the pump sends the info to an easy-to-read app. For racers, you can now fine-tune the pressure on your wheels just before a race. The pump is nine and half inches long, which short enough to fit in a jersey pocket, or it can be attached to the frame with a mounting bracket provided. Flats are inevitable, so you may as well be ready for one.
