STATE COLLEGE — Lucas McKay hit two home runs to help lead Mifflin County past State College American 11-8 in Game 1 of the District 5 11-12 year old Southern Tier Championship on Tuesday.
McKay sent the first pitch of the game over the center field fence as Mifflin County jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the two innings.
American answered with three runs in the third after a double by Ryan Karstetter, Christian Restivo’s sacrifice fly and Luc Michael’s two-run homer.
Aaron Snook pushed Mifflin County’s lead back up to 7-3 with a two-run single in the fourth. McKay would later add a two-run homer in the fifth as American cut the deficit with Calvin Sichler’s three-run homer in the fifth and Karstetter’s run-scoring double in the sixth.
Mifflin County will host State College American in the second game on Thursday with the winner earning a berth into the district championship series against the winner of Thursday’s contest between Clearfield and Philipsburg-Osceola.

State College cruises past Tyrone
TYRONE — State College put up eight runs over its first two at-bats, finishing with a 16-7 victory over Tyrone on Tuesday.
Leading the State College onslaught was Austin Mock with five hits, including two home runs, a double and six RBIs. Trey Nicosia blasted two home runs to finish with four RBIs. Mike Krider singled and doubled and Ryan Blaschak homered and finished with three RBIs.
Aaron Sallade was the winning pitcher as State College improved to 18-6.
Mifflin County 14-15, Bellefonte 4-5
BELLEFONTE — Mifflin County finished with 30 hits in just 10 innings to earn two five-inning victories over Bellefonte on Tuesday.
Ryan Keefer led Mifflin County (20-5) in Game 1 with four hits, including a triple and two doubles. Nathan Pray doubled and homered while totaling four hits.
Frank Parkes led Bellefonte (17-13) with a three-run home run in the fifth after Mifflin County had built an 11-0 lead through four.
Mifflin County broke open a 3-3 game with a seven-run fourth to pull away in Game 2.
Morgan Barger finished with four hits, including a two-run homer in the third for Mifflin County.
Bellefonte’s Eric Regel led a three-run second with a two-run triple as Brandon Quay also doubled and tripled in the loss.
COUNTY LEAGUE
Governors top Porters
PORT MATILDA — Nick Powden’s three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday proved to be the difference as the Bellefonte Governors topped Port Matilda 11-8.
Port Matilda tied the game up at 8-8 in the bottom of the sixth when Justin Glantz led off with a single and scored on Nick Daye’s RBI single.
Bellefonte built an 8-2 lead before the Porters responded with five in the fifth, led by Daye’s two-run single and Brian Ohs’ RBI single.
Cody Young had four hits for the Governors with Powden also adding a solo homer.
Powden also earned the win in relief over 21⁄3 innings.
Shawn Breon singled and doubled to pace Port Matilda.
On Monday, Eric Gates totaled five singles as the Governors finished with 20 hits in a 14-6 thumping of the Porters.
Andy Gunderson was the winning pitcher.
