Children come first at Boalsburg Hometown Christmas

Children of all ages will be ready when the annual Boalsburg Hometown Christmas sets up shop.

A dance, a cookie contest, wagon rides, children’s story time, a tree lighting and caroling and other events will highlight the celebration this weekend.

But one organizer, Ann Hoffman, said the biggest draw for the children will be the breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dec. 1 in the Boalsburg fire hall.

“What we try to do is give something to the community and help the merchants,” she said.

Hoffman said that the businesses around the area love the event because it draws the locals out of their homes and brings in people from the surrounding areas as well.

Most of the events are guided toward children, Hoffman said, but she added that the festival can be attended by people of all ages.

The “Taste of Boalsburg” will also take place Nov. 30 and requires a reservation. A $45 fee per person will allow attendees to get a chance to sample food from around the area, she said. That event will be held at Liberty Hill.

There will be a drawing held Nov 30 night during the tree lighting and caroling festival.

Hoffman would recommend the event to parents with children or anyone who just wants to come enjoy the festivities.
