DOG JOG

The seventh annual rain-or-shine Dog Jog 5K Run and 1.5K Walk, benefits Pets Come First, a local volunteer, nonprofit animal rescue organization, and will feature a rescue and food vendors, silent auction and a chance to interact with rescue dogs and local pets. One leashed adult dog per owner is permitted.

NATIVE AMERICAN JEWELRY SHOW

Some vendors from the formerly annual New Faces of an Ancient People Traditional Powwow will display their jewelry at this weekend’s Native American Jewelry Show. Some items for sale include a bola tie by Garrison Boyd, handmade beads with Kingman turquoise (Navajo), a Kingman turqoise bracelet by Guy Hoskie (Navajo), and an inlay lion bola tie by Virgil and Shirley Benn-Zuni (Navajo).

CLASICAL INDIAN MUSIC

An Indian music recital will feature an evening of Dhrupad, one of the oldest forms of Indian classical music, as performed by Pt. Uday Bhawalkar, center. His style is embedded in raga ras and bhaav, which brings a creative melodic addition to the precise intonation and pronunciation characteristic to the Dhrupad style. Bhawalkar also will hold introductory Dhrupad workshops on Dhrupad on April 27-28. Those interested can email sima.sandesh@gmail.com for more information.
