Good Life

Behind a Smile

The river gleams by,

The sun smiles on it,

For the river cannot sigh,

But, it carries along,

A floating dead body.

The road shimmers away,

The rain cleans it,

For the road cannot stray,

But, it caresses on its side,

An animal carcass.

The volcano guffaws,

The wind dances on it,

For the lava cannot pause,

But, lies underneath it,

A crying town.

A man smiles on,

Humming a merry song,

For the man cannot cry,

But, he bears along,

A broken heart!
