YMCA swimming

Programs promote children’s health and safety. They support parents and encourage their participation in teaching kids life skills. Lessons teach positive values and give kids the opportunity to practice while promoting their growth in self-esteem and self-worth.

The program emphasizes having fun while becoming knowledgeable in safe aquatic habits, enhancing swimming stroke skills, and learning water related activities that can lead to a lifetime of aquatic fitness. In addition, the lessons incorporate values to expand personal growth through moral and ethical discussions.

Swim lessons are broken down into five components: Personal safety, personal growth, stroke development/water orientation, water sports and games and rescue (non-swimming).
