State College police cited 27 people for speeding Thursday afternoon on a stretch of U.S. Route 322 just east of Boalsburg where aggressive driving has been a highlighted concern.

That two-lane stretch of road between Boalsburg and Lewistown has seen eight crashes since May involving 12 cars, eight trucks and a bus. Fourteen people were injured in those accidents and one person was killed.

Penn DOT has made some improvements to the road to try and slow down traffic in recent months, but put on hold a plan in 2004 to convert the road into four lanes because of lack of funding.

Police conducted a special speed enforcement of the area for four hours Thursday funded by Penn DOT under its "Aggressive Driving" program.
