Update: Bellefonte woman dies after car crash

Julie Webster, 25, of Bellefonte, died after the car she was riding in rolled off the road at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of E. College Avenue (state Route 26) in Pleasant Gap, according to police.

The driver, Shawn Meter, 21, of Pleasant Gap, was severely injured. According to the Altoona Hospital, he was in serious condition this afternoon.

According to Spring Township police, a witness said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rolled off the road into a field. The vehicle went about 380 feet before coming to a rest.

According to police, both Webster and Meter were flown to the Altoona trauma center. Webster died later in the morning.

Pleasant Gap Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene. State College police also assisted. Spring Township police said the investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
