Felony charges against Nittany Lions dismissed

Felony aggravated assault charges against Penn State starting defensive tackle Chris Baker and teammate Navorro Bowman were dismissed in Centre County Court Wednesday, but Centre County Judge Carmine Prestia bound over the lesser charges filed in connection with an on-campus fight in October.

Baker, 20, of Windsor, Conn., and Bowman, 19, of District Heights, Md., both of whom are accused by police of attacking a person at the HUB-Robeson Center in October, still face misdemeanor charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct and a summary charge of harassment.

According to court documents, Police arrived at the HUB at 1:46 a.m. Oct. 7 to find a large group of people huddled around a group of men and what sounded like fighting. When police reached the center of the huddle they found the alleged victim with his shirt covered in blood, his nose broken and his face swollen. He told police he’d been jumped by 15 football players.
