CentreDaily.com received statewide recognition last week in the 2008 Newspaper Excellence in Cyberspace Awards presented at the America East conference in Hershey.
The Web site was named tops among medium-sized newspapers in the best news coverage of event or issue category for its presentation of the “Paycheck-to-Paycheck” series, published late last year in the Centre Daily Times.
Page designer/online producer Brett Colton designed the online package, which still appears on CentreDaily.com. Reporters Anne Danahy and Chris Rosenblum reported and wrote the series published late last year in the Centre Daily Times.
Also, CDT Executive Editor Bob Heisse won the 2008 John Fisher Internet Vision Award, presented by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association for online achievement.
Heisse writes a midday report from the newsroom on weekdays, a blog called Back in Happy Valley, and helps build content on CentreDaily.com. He’s currently serving as president of the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors.
CentreDaily.com has more than a half million unique visitors per month, with a record 599,000 totaled in January. Among those were 115,000 visitors from Centre County and University Park.
