Daryll Clark passed for 185 yards and two touchdowns and Derrick Williams scored three TDs — rushing, passing and on a kick return — as Penn State beat Illinois 38-24 tonight.
The Nittany Lions and the Fighting Illini both scored on field goals in the third quarter, with Penn State's Kevin Kelly successful on a 25-yard attempt. Illinois kicker Matt Eller was 1-for-2, missing from 33 yards and making a 43-yard attempt.
Both teams traded scores in the first quarter, but Penn State pulled ahead on a Derrick Williams 5-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter.
The Illini racked up 117 yards in the first quarter but were held to just 21 yards in a scoreless second period.
