Blair County man drowns while fishing in Raystown Lake

A Blair County man drowned in Raystown Lake in Huntingdon County on Thursday, after he fell off his boat while fishing.

John Walker Walls, 74, of Duncansville, was fishing at 6:40 p.m. with an unidentified 85-year-old man, when he lost his balance and fell over the side of the boat in which they were fishing, according to state police in Huntingdon.

Walls was unable to get back to the boat and subsequently went under water and did not reemerge, police said.

Area dive teams found the victim at 11:40 p.m., police said. An autopsy will be performed to verify the cause of death, according to the police report.

An autopsy was scheduled Friday, but Walls is presumed to have drowned.
