The Orchard Park Playground will open to the public 2 p.m. Friday, said Courtney Hayden, communication and special projects coordinator for State College Borough.
Nearly 200 volunteers built the park on Tuesday as part of a project to enhance the community and serve the 1,500 children who utilize Orchard Park.
It features a full play space, seating area, landscaping and cleared walking path at a nearby wooded area.
The project was made complete with the help from the Pennsylvania Municipal League and a grant from KaBoom! — a national nonprofit that builds safe play spaces for children around the country.
