Teens charged with attempting to take merchandise from Kmart

Two 16-year-olds face charges for allegedly attempting to take merchandise from a Kmart store on Sunday.

Mifflin County Regional Police say they were called at 7:10 p.m. to the store, where the two female juveniles were being detained by the store’s loss prevention officer.

The girls had clothing and shoes valued at $318.84 in a backpack. The price tags had been removed from the items. The tags were found in a fitting room.

The teens, both New York residents, face charges of theft and criminal conspiracy.

They were released to a parent, police said.
