Multiple State College police officers sustained injuries late Saturday night after a scuffle with a group of men who had open beer cans, police said.

Mario Vincent Palarino,19, was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor escape, misdemeanor resisting arrest and summary offenses of underage drinking and an open container violation after the incident which occurred on the 300 block of East Prospect Avenue just before midnight.

Police said Palarino kicked multiple officers causing minor arm abrasions and tried to run. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Another 19-year-old, who was stopped with an open container at the same time and in the same place, is expected to be charged with offenses including possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct, possession of a fake I.D. An officer broke his finger after trying to grab the second man. He was treated at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Police would not release the name of the second man because he has not been charged yet.

Palarino was arraigned on $25,000 bail, but could be released by posting 10 percent of the figure. He remains in Centre County Correctional Facility after being unable to post the bail, according to court documents.

He has a preliminary hearing for Wednesday and is listed as a Penn State student in the directory.
