A Julian woman suffered moderate injuries when she fell asleep and crashed her car early Sunday along Unionville Pike, police reported Wednesday.
Joyce E. Loesch was traveling north on Unionville Pike, also township Route 344, near Purdue Mountain Road just before 6 a.m. when she fell asleep and drove off the west berm, state police at Philipsburg said.
Loesch’s 2006 Kia Spectra went down a steep embankment and ended up in the front yard of a residence. The car “struck a decorative light pole and crossed the driveway, nearly striking the residence,” police said. The vehicle came to rest in a wooded area.
Police said Loesch faces charges for traffic violations. No specific information was reported concerning her injuries.
