A man who was hit by a car early Thursday morning, is expected to be OK, according to State College police.
Police responded to a vehicle-pedestrian accident at 1:56 a.m. at the intersection of South Atherton Street and West Fairmount Avenue.
Police said the man stepped in front of a black Mustang heading north on South Atherton. The driver attempted to swerve but struck the man, causing the pedestrian severe head trauma.
Police said the injured man was sent by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center before he was taken by helicopter to UPMC Altoona.

Witnesses reportedly told police the pedestrian was stepping in and out of the street before he was struck. Upon impact, police said the driver immediately called 911.
No other information was released.
