Seniors urged to reject offer to enroll in Pa. property tax/rent rebate program for a fee

Senior citizens should discard a solicitation offering to complete the application for the state's property tax/rent rebate program for a fee, said state Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Lock Haven.

Hanna said several people brought to his attention a mailing from the Senior Advisory Center. The group offers to fill out the property tax/rent rebate form for a fee.

Hanna said the state does not charge a fee to enroll in the program and his staff is trained to assist those who wish to apply.

His Milesburg office can be contacted at 353-8780.

The program is open to eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older; widows and widowers 50 or older; and people with disabilities 18 or older.
