Mount Nittany Medical Center honored staff members Tuesday night during the fourth annual Patient CARE and the Allied Health Professional Excellence Awards at its semi-annual meeting at the Galen and Nancy Dreibelbis Auditorium.
The awards were presented to non-physician staff members nominated by physicians for their outstanding performance and commitment to making people healthier, a report from the medical center said.
“The medical staff takes great pride in promoting and recognizing excellence in all of the healthcare staff at Mount Nittany Medical Center,” said Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, chief of medical staff. “These individuals are leaders in their respective fields, and we certainly value their expertise and dedication.”
The Patient CARE awards honor excellence in patient care and services in four categories: Clinical, Administration, Research and Education.
Those honored were Amy Jo Brown, registered nurse; Wayne Thompson, senior vice president and chief information officer; John Rossi, director of pharmacy; and Barbara DeVinney-Mills, program coordinator at Penn State Hershey Family Residency Program at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
The Allied Health Professional Excellence Award honors an Allied Health staff member who upholds the standards of clinical care through excellence, service, citizenship and innovation.
This year’s recipient was Steve Smith, of Mount Nittany Physician Group.
