Road closed, buses rerouted for Penn State scoreboard overhaul

Work continued this week on the new Beaver Stadium scoreboard, which is being installed as a part of a $10 million package to upgrade the boards to high-definition.

A portion of Curtin Road has been closed, and will remain so until about Jan. 31, as crews use a crane to do much of the work on the stadium’s south end. The north-end scoreboard also will be replaced.

Curtin Road was closed from Porter Road to just east of Curtin Road at the entrance to Lot 44 beginning Dec. 9, and detours have been posted.

About 90 parking spaces in Jordan East Lot 44 have been blocked, and CATA buses have been rerouted as follows:

Blue Loop: The Curtin Road stop is closed, and passengers should use the Porter Road stop.

Green Link: As Curtin Road is closed eastbound, buses will stop at Porter Road and then Curtin Road westbound.

HP and NV: These routes will experience a routing detour only, with no restriction to regularly scheduled stops on Curtin Road.

The new scoreboard will have full-screen, high-definition video panels as well as an upgraded sound system and closed-captioning.
