Centre County school districts delayed Wednesday due to cold

Bellefonte, Bald Eagle, State College, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola school districts have announced they will operate on two-hour delays on Wednesday due to the weather.

Also, Bellefonte Playschool announced a one-hour delay. Centre County Christian Academy is on a two-hour delay, as is Growing in Faith Preschool in Bellefonte, NHS School in State College, Nittany Valley Charter School, St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy and Young Scholars Charter School. Philipsburg Head Start Class 18 and Wingate Head Start Class 40 are canceled.

Dangerous temperatures and wind chills are expected through mid-Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service’s wind chill advisory expires at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Temperatures in Centre County are expected between 3 and 6 degrees, but a wind chill of 15 to 20 below zero is anticipated, according to NWS.
