IHOP ‘finally’ opens in State College

The IHOP restaurant at 1661 S. Atherton St., State College, made its grand opening Friday.

Doors opened at 7 a.m. and State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham cut a ribbon at 9:30.

IHOP spokesman Craig M. Hoffman said the restaurant is offering an all-you-can-eat pancake promotion until Feb. 9.

The restaurant seats about 230 guests, Hoffman said.

“We are so excited and delighted — finally — to be able to welcome our guests into their new local IHOP,” Chris Milisci, president of Romulus Inc., said in a statement. “We were very touched by the show of interest we received during construction and we apologize for the slight delay in our opening date. We want the people of State College to know we were as eager to serve them as they were to join us at IHOP.

“Now that we’re open, we look forward to being their restaurant of choice and an active and involved member of this great community for many years to come.”

IHOP, the International House of Pancakes, is a restaurant chain based in Glendale, Calif., with more than 1,600 locations worldwide.
