A U.S. Attorney’s Office representative confirmed Monday that Vladislav Miftakhov, 18, appeared in court for a detention hearing.
According to Margaret Philbin, Miftakhov requested his release on bond, but prosecutors are opposing that move.
Miftakhov is in custody, his release stayed pending the U.S. attorney’s appeal of that ruling.
Court documents reveal that charges against Miftakhov on the state level have been withdrawn since the federal charges were filed. The Penn State Altoona engineering student was being held on $500,000 bond in Blair County for a slate of charges stemming from a marijuana growing operation investigation that allegedly revealed him to be in possession of a bomb and bomb-making materials bought online.
