Sue Paterno has endorsed Penn State trustee candidates Rudy Glocker and Al Lord, she said in a news release Thursday, the first day alumni can vote in the election.
Glocker is a managing partner with footwear company Pediped and played football in the 1990s for longtime Penn State coach Joe Paterno. Lord is a private investor and former Sallie Mae CEO.
“We have discussed Penn State’s critical issues during this campaign, and these gentlemen understand well the needs of our beloved alma mater,” Sue Paterno said in the release.
“I endorse both candidacies without reservation and look forward to the changes they can make on the board.”

Lord and Glocker are among the 31 candidates vying for three alumni-elected seats to the board.
Joe Paterno was fired by the board on Nov. 9, 2011, at the beginning of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, and Paterno’s firing became one of the major issues of the first trustee election during the Sandusky aftermath in 2012. Pro-Paterno candidates swept last year’s election, and this year’s field features many candidates with some kind of pro-Paterno stance.
Voting continues through 9 a.m. May 8, and the results will be announced May 9 at the board meeting on campus.
